I am very disappointed. I was hoping for more relevant questions, and more to the point:
Why is it such a mess? What is being done?
It is just all bad. And yet I am current so I shouldn't complain. But man, this system is surely broken.

There are so many who missed the July 07...
we should try to seek temporary relief..allowing to file for 485 even without PD veing current.
CIR will happen when it has to happen..maybe after the health bill ...but IV not doing anything else while waiting for it is sad....
I left old job 10 months before July 07. But attorney at new employer did mistake with advertisement, and PERM got rejected. Applied again, and USCIS audited all Fragomen cases, so mine stuck there attorney being Fragomen. By then July 07 was gone. In Sept 08 again my PD (Nov 05) was current but I was stuck with Audit.... Finally I got PERM approved, 140 approved, but since then NOV 05 is far far away....

Yes. Is there any Legislation/or anything that can be worked on to make it a Law for getting Citizenship application eligibility after 5 years (or 6 years considering time to process fingerprint/medical/etc..) of I-485 application Provided, it is been Pending for years becoz of Visa-Unavailability from state.

thats one way to look at it. The other way to see this is that:
- given enough people making noise its possible to get DOS/USCIS to make changes and fix things. this has now been proven.
-there is a lot more visibility for EB related issues now, so much better chance of recapture or exemption for spouses from VB calculations etc.
- instead of focus being on filing 485 without visa numbers (which is what IV focussed on for a while) everyone will now focus right at the root of the problem. All 500K are now focussed on solving the main issue.

Also, with all due respect to IV, I think the thing that most likely led to the USCIS turnaround was not our voices, but rather the fact that a law suit would have revealed SERIOUS rule breaking - particularly with regard to issuing of visas to non-security cleared people. I think the USCIS's fear of dealing with a) discovery during court proceedings and b) potentially huge finanicial damages, were the main motivating factors to the turnaround.
There is no doubt though, that the voices of immigrants did make a difference.
By the way, this morning I wrote to both Senators Cornyn (for) and Clinton (against) in response to their amendment votes yesterday. I thanked him from trying to bring relief and urged her to show more bravery in solving the crisis at a future opportunity. I urge you all to do the same.

I know 3 friends of mine who got an email for USCIS rearding the GC approval. They all had priority dates around April-June 2004 EB3 India. These are the lucky ones who got labor cleared in 2-3 months (just prior to BEC/PERM) and had filed 485/140 concurrently.

I created the SR to check the status of my AP on Jan 8th and have bot heard anything back yet.

If you are in EB2, then might as well go for PP for the I-140. Regular at Nebraska is taking 8 months. Given the way dates move erratically, if you get current in the next couple of months (I hope you do, mine is the same PD) you wont have I-140 to worry about, you'll be all set.

There's nothing new there. Its silly actually. The later bulletin supersedes the previous bulletin and everyone knows that.
But they are just connecting the "flip" and the "flop" of their flip-flop of visa bulletin. They are saying that if you read "Flip", then "Flop" must be read too and if you read "Flop", then "Flip" must be read too, in order to make sense of the Flip-Flop.
Its like saying "I voted for current visa bulletin before I voted against it".

Just wanted to let you know that I received my refund yesterday. My wife and I filed a joint return. We both have SSN's. Just relax folks if you filed your taxes you will receive the refund. I had hoped the money could have been put to better use but oh well the politicians know better.

If you both have SSNs, you WILL get the payment. However, if one person has an ITIN, nobody will get it.

I am also planning to start a Nursing Registry, LLC once I get my EAD. However, I don't have much capitalization.
How much do you think is the minimum amount of money to get a business running with just one person - me - as owner/employee?
I've done a little research and got some info. like:
LLC registration: US$ 500
State Tax: US$800
Capital Expense: US$ 3,000 (own house using own computer)
Operating Expense: US$ 60,000 (salary, utilities, consumables) per annum
Is this correct? Any thing missing here?
