Even though America's Jewish community includes virtually known of the folks being targeted by the anti-immigrant law in Arizona, members of the community get nervous when they see individuals in another minority group being targeted unjustly. Laws that demand that people show their papers make Jews especially concerned since in generations past (think Nazi Germany) in other countries, similar laws were part of campaigns of persecution. The early retirement of US Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) has opened up an appointment opportunity for Governor Charlie Crist, himself a candidate for Martinez's seat. Crist will likely not appoint himself and a number of names are circulating for potential replacements. According to Politico, one person being considered is Jacksonville-area State Representative Jennifer Carroll. Carroll would be the first black female Republican Senator if she were selected. Carroll is a native of Trinidad and a retired US Navy officer. I was on H1 with my previous company but laid off last week. I have !485 AOS and EAD.
I believe I can straight away join any company (consultancy or any enterprise company) on EAD , right pls ?
if get a job offer from Comapny "A" and join them today and file AC-21 today and meanwhile say I get another job from another Company "B" after two days and join them, can I file another AC-21 without waiting to hear back from USCIS. I believe AC 21 is just informational for USCIS that I have switched the jobs.
Thanks for your help.

If your labor is not approved by June 09, you can extend H1-B based on pending labor for more than 1 year. If it will be approved before June, you will be able to apply I-140 premium processing and then extend H1.

The Technology section of the New York Times (http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/13/googles-immigration-fixer/?partner=rss&emc=rss) this week ran an article about an employee at Google whose job it is to "fix" problems Google employees have with the immigration system. The article is interesting, but what is really striking is the tone of the comments to the online article. There is a display of real anger at Google's hiring of foreign workers in this time of economic hardship - when so many U.S. citizens are looking for work. Read the article. What's your opinion?

HI, i filed for my sons GC with an i-130. i received an I-797C saying it had been approved n a priority date of 02/26/2004. we have been waiting for years now i just checked the priority date and its already past that if im reading correctly its now at july 04...i am a US resident. i called the NVC but the automated service told me they are still processing visas from 1999?? What should i do?? can anyone give me decent advice on this? Thank you...

I am currently in L1B status and filed for AOS (I-140/I-485) in July 2007. My I-140 was approved last week and 180 days of pending I-485 are also over. My question is whether there is a huge risk involved in porting to a new employer using EAD, particularly because I do not have any other safety net like H1-B status. I understand, in case of I-485 denial, I will not have any other option to fall back upon. But if USCIS mistakenly issues a NOID or denial for some strange reason, would I have any other option to appeal without going out of country. Can I continue appealing such a potential denial from outside of USA and come if they reopen the case.
More specifically, I have heard some of the AC21 cases have been mistakenly denied or a NOID issues due to ignorant USCIS immigration officer. Can something be done to revive the AOS when there is no backup option like H1B? Would that action needs to be continued from outside of USA or can be done here itself.

Well this is a peculiar case:
My OPT started may 15 06. I started working for my present employer from July 06 and we missed out on last years qouta and I was sure that they will apply for this years. Today my manager calls me up and says that we CANT. Now I am in a soup. May 15 -- Oct 1 break and on top of that I need to find a consultant who can sponsor me visa at this time. These are my questions:
1. I can get my general qouta H1 done by a consultant. So if I goto India, will there be any problems while stamping ??
2. Whats wise?? staying here, getting a new I-20 or going back to India ?? Because 4.5 months is a long time and I dont think I can afford the expenses here.

If H4 uses EAD for work with 485 pending, and if the underlying I-140 gets rejected, will this make H4 holder be out of status? what are the options for H4 holder.
If I 140 is rejected then the EAD,AP and I 485 are rejected as well. If you have used EAD then ur H4 is no longer valid ! You will have to go out of the country and get H4 stamped.
So the recommendation is to keep H status alive till you get Greencard

2. EB2 PD-May 2000 Project Manager/Senior Architect/Team Lead Degree: Masters in CS prior to 2K
American co., no need to pay for labor. Should come with a project with a corp to corp option. Co. has clients but it may take time as July 16th is last date.

My wife's H4 was recently approved along with my H1. We both have different last names. My name is misspelled, an "a" missing and her middle initial is also different. What can I do to get a corrected H4? Can I go to local immigration office or something? My lawyer contacted the USCIS and they said they will respond in 45 days. They don't even guarantee that they will correct the approval document.
Please let me know
