The state chapters don't seem to be very effective.
I thought I was a member of the CA chapter but in the last few months I received no information from anybody in this chapter.
I was semi-active, meaning I helped with phone calls, money and prints and that's as much as I could do at this point in time.
And at some point there was a discussion about a new user group of only the people that are active and can contribute and it seems they went through with it.
I understand that some things might be better discussed in a smaller group with the people that can dedicate more time, but there are different levels of commitment and if you're not open and accept that some want to help but can't do as much as others, you're cutting yourself short.
When there is a big initiative or a push for funds and effort, you're not even reaching out to the bigger group; you're relying on the same small number of people and they too have limited resources and energy and will get tired.
Maybe I�m just having a bad day but that was my experience and CA is one of the most active chapters so maybe all is well I�m an isolated case.
That is true and IV core member Nixtor had given details about this visa movement more than a month ago in the all state chapter conference call. This call was strictly for state chapter members of all states. IV core has been meeting DOS and USCIS regularly to find solution to the problems our members have been facing.
Pls take part in the call campaign and contribute funds to be able to find relief.

We should not let Cornyn down due to this bill's failure. We have to send email and thank him for bringing up this bill eventhough it failed. This will keep up his spirit and make him feel that there are people behind him even if this bill failed. This will make him to pursue other amendments in favor of legal immigrants if at all there is a slight chance before this NOV.

But.. when AOS(485) is denied, won't the underlying 140 and for that matter labor is also denied?
I think you are wrong ( I just think)
H1b and AOS are two differnt things and are not coupled. A yearly h1b extension beyond 6 years is given if you have a Labor pending for more than an year or pending 140 more than one year and a 3 year h1b extension is granted if you have an approved 140.
So the basis of getting a h1b extension or transfer is 140 and not AOS. One may not have even applied for AOS but can get h1 extensions as long as the above conditions are satisfied.
This is based on what I know. Thats why Attorneys prefer h1b compared to EAd because h1b essentially gives time for you to change jobs/apply for new GC petition in case existing petition has tons of issues etc...

There was a campaign on wrongful denial in AC21 , there was also letter campaign not sure what happened after that ? It was IV action item too... What was the conclusion ? should we all suffer even if it is a training issue, if they act such nice on letters , then why they act as if there is no form and if AC21 is for real aliens from a real alien world.

We are in the same situation. Big Company. They dont really care about how much our application is delayed
Employer would not sign form 7001. Instead,can we complete the form 7001 for I-485 delay. the reason behind this is probably I-140 pending. Our priority date has been current for months. EB2 Dec 2003. InfoPass IO says that NC, BC are cleared. Do you think that this will help?
One more thing. InfoPass IO told that our application has been transferred from TSC to NSC, then back to TSC and again transferred to NSC in March 2008. But online status has no LUDs since we gave FP in Jan 2008. Online status shows that our application is pending at TSC . This is confusing and i dont know where the application is. Can we also enquire about this situation using form 7001?

We (5 People) work for IBM company, SFO, today we went personally to the congress men and we submit the letter which is provided in this forum and after that we called state senator office and we explained about our problem. We faxed and email the letter to the senator office, staff had taken my contact details and they told me that they will inform the solution in 2days.

Its very interesting reading everyone's stories. To me GC represents freedom. Freedom to work for whom you want to, in a field you want to, not to work for someone you don't want to. To start your own buisness, to do all those things which US is known for. This country encourages entrepreneurs and I would like to be one, one of these days :).

The important thing is, not all BEC cases are alive today. Most people moved on to PERM. On the flip side, some newbies took advantage of substituted Labor, but I am guessing the count is not very high.
My employer applied for labor for 8 of us in our organization of 50 ppl. This is in the middle of 2003. I am the only one left at this point as the rest of them moved to different employers or got GC through their spouse. Also, I know for a fact that those labors were not substituted. This may have happened else where too. So, i guess the total I-485 applicants will be around 400K including dependants and won't be as high as being speculated every where.

It is April new numbers for the quarter will be available.My guess is EB2 I will move beyond April 1 2004.Once it crossess 2004 then it will be almost in 2006 not many cases in 2005.
